Is web/app design and development a good career/business to do with all the amount of freebies and templates these days?

These days there are alot of free templates and frameworks out there online, Will this kill business for web professionals. Should I look into something else? Any opinions or advice?

Hi Ali

Frameworks and templates are good to get a simple website off the ground (i'm no web developer) but in my opinion this will lead most companies into wanting a bigger and better site as they see the template they created become more restrictive. No major company would have a website which ran off a template, these are created for DIY get yourself off the ground type projects from what I know about them and do not compete with a fully customised solution from a web developer(s).

Like Oliver says if it interests you then do it, what have you to lose? Internet based solutions are not likely to go away any time soon and simply knowing how all these things work will look better on your CV than not.
