Python Python Collections (2016, retired 2019) Slices First Slice

Isn't making a_list=a_list[:] the same as copying the list with a slice?

a_list=[1,2,3]

The question asks me to copy that list with a slice. Why doesn't the following answer pass the question?:

a_list=a_list[:]

Hi Clifford,

You have the right slice syntax but went a little too far for what the question was asking.

It only wants to know what you would put after a_list in order to make a copy of it.

So you would only put the slice syntax in the blank.

Thank you, Jason!
