Android Build a Simple Android App Getting Started with Android A Brief Introduction to Android Tools

It easier to fall into a gorilla pit then to get help on here, Do the so call instructor even check these questions

I see some questions written over 5 months ago with no answer. All my other courses I've taken on treehouse, I'm able to get help and clear instruction but just starting with building Simple Android App and it's all ready going horribly. Instructions are not being updated like instructor claim and help seems as if it will never come.

All I wanted was an answer as to why I can't access my SDK tools if I followed the directions Following directions but I can't access SDK tools in android studio.. Link to watch video http://screencast.com/t/tdEcAI

Please I followed the direction and yet I can't access the SDK tools, here's the link to see the problem for yourself http://screencast.com/t/tdEcAIzJHD.

casthrademosthene: I know it's frustrating when you can't solve something, but please refrain from posting multiple questions to the same problem within a span of a few hours; you must be more patient. That said, I've removed all duplicate posts.

If you want the instructor to see your question, you may tag them by using the @ symbol and typing in the rest of their name. This will notify them, but there is no guarantee. Self-sufficiency is a great trait to have and you seem to be well accustomed. Google/Stack Overflow is a developers best friend.

Best of luck!

It's because the user name on your computer is two words. And you installed to the default directory. So we're going to try this. If you look up at the top, you'll see a path that's C:\Users\Billionare Casthra\etc... over on the far right side is an edit link. Click that. Now down at the bottom of this screen you'll see the path again. Click the three dots on the far right side and browse to a new folder, then click next. It will start installing in the folder that you choose. However, do not install it in a folder that has a white space in it!

I know it's frustrating to not be able to get something to work. But here is Treehouse's own description of the Community:

If you need help with something not answered below, check out the Community. It's an active, helpful community of fellow Treehouse students.

When you post here, you're asking fellow students for advice. And I promise, there are many of us doing our absolute best to make sure we can answer questions to the best of our ability. I sincerely hope you get this working! :sparkles:

Great answers as usual, Jennifer Nordell! I recommended you to be a Moderator a while back, not sure if you have no interest or they haven't asked you yet.

Also, I did a bit of formatting to your post which led me to submit a(nother) bug report to the development team. The blockquote doesn't have any bottom margin, causing the next paragraph to butt up against it. Bleck!

thanks Jennifer, I just did that and worked. I was just trying to follow the instructions excatly like treehouse gave me and they didn't mention anything about the whitespace in the instruction, so I didn't know who on google to listen to since I wanted to do it according to the instructor information.

But thank you so much for the help, cuz now it's working.

Rich Donnellan oh wow! I had no idea that you'd done that. No, noone's contacted me about it. Maybe I haven't been here long enough? I first signed up with Treehouse back in February  I love this community, though! :sparkles:

I don't have a problem searching for the answers myself.. What I have a problem with is when a instructor ask me to follow directions and promises that they will update the information since softwares are often updated and that same instructor does not do his part and expect me to run around trying to figure out which one of the many solutions available online will work with the course I'm taking.

All I'm saying is instructors need to held accountable for providing and insuring the instructions they are given is update. If that's too much of a reponsibility then give us the link to the companies instruction. Don't write customize instruction and then don't update it. It's frustrating, but thank you for telling me I could tag the instructors because even on twitter this guy is not responding to helping his students.
