It works on PyCharm

Hello,why doesn't my code work in this challenge but when I run it on PyCharm it works?

trial.py 
def add(x,y):
    try:
        x = int(x)
        y = int(y)
    except ValueError:
        return None
    else:
        x = float(x)
        y = float(y)
        return x + y
