I've wrapped the HTML Basics in italics tags. Why isn't it correct?

How do I go about adding emphasis other than using the <i></i> tag to make it italics?

<em> adds emphasis while also italicizing the text. The MDN page discusses the difference between <i> and <em> in the usage notes.
