jquery in no conflict mode

I was trying to include my js into my wordpress theme and faced the issue. It is appeared that wordpress uses jquery in "no conflict mode" which doesn't allow to use $ instead of jQuery. I settled it as recommended in api.jquery - just wrap my code up into the function so that $ refers to jQuery again. Now I'm wondering do anybody know other solutions for this problem?

UPD knew I that I should always listen the lesson to the end, I wouldn't post that question! So there IS Zac's answer to that, sorry for being so impatient.
