Why do i need to use show in $overlay.show(); if $("body").append($overlay); append() is already inserting that div for me ??

12,614 PointsIn the CSS file, the overlay has it's display property set to none. Essentially, it's invisible and the .show() method overwrites the 'display: none' property.
