JSON parsing as an array?

In the course module (Parsing JSON with PHP) Zac wants us to pull object properties like so:

$wp_treehouse_profile->{'badges'}[$i]->{'icon_url'}

Which doesn't work for me. But changing it to:

$wp_treehouse_profile['badges'][$i]['icon_url'']

works? I'm assuming it's because it's reading it as an array instead of a string. But my object_decode($json) doesn't have true param. It's this way even when I set it to false.

So, what am I doing wrong?
