keeps saying task 1 has stopped working, help?

im not sure what I am doing wrong, any help would be great

Hey Justin,

you need to write the alert() inside the shout.js file. So just import the js file in your html. Your html should look like this:

<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
  <script src="shout.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

And here is how your shout.js file should look like:

alert("I DID IT!");
