The workspace opens in a separate window and gives you an editor you can use to create and store HTML, CSS, and other kinds of files. It's very handy for following along with the videos. But it also provides a server facility so you can connect to it with a browser and see the results of your work.

If you want a more thorough introduction, there's a separate workshop on Using Treehouse Workspaces.

Hi Robert,

The "launch workspace" utility opens a self contained coding area where students can follow along with and complete the example code set out in the lessons. A student's work can be saved and even downloaded to their local computer.
