Layout/Styling IRL

I'm learning layout/styling in swift and while using the storyboard is nice I'd like to build my projects in a way that resembles how apps are built in teams by real companies. In practice do dev teams usually use the storyboard to layout or do they do it by code? My intuition is that it's done via code.
