Main Menu formatting in the header

Hi, I am working on the How to build a wordpress theme, and I am on the Coding the Header and Footer Templates stage. I am having problems with the header Menu because it it not appearing horizontally but stacking vertically. I thought it might be a typo but even if I copy the project files into my htdocs, I still get the same problem. I would be very grateful if someone could help me work out what is going wrong. Thanks.

I have just discovered it works ok in Safari but is stacking horizontally in Chrome. Please can anyone suggest a solution to get the menu to display horizonatally as in the tutorial? Thanks. Mike

I have the same issue with Firefox. It does work in Safari like you said Mike.
