Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Overload Methods

Modify the drive method to define a parameter of how many laps should be driven. Update method to handle new parameter

public void drive() { lapsDriven++; barCount--; } public void drive(int newParameterGoesHere){ lapsDriven+++=; barCount-=;

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;
  private int lapsDriven;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }
  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {
    lapsDriven++;
    barCount--;
  }
  public void drive(int newParameterGoesHere){
    lapsDriven+++=;
    barCount-=;
     }
}

Can someone help me to understand what am I doing wrong? I watched the video twice but I still don't get it.

Which task are you on? Task 1 or task 2?

I'm on Task 1

You almost got it right and in addition you even mannaged to overload one method. Great job!

In the drive method, which takes the "newParameterGoesHere" parameter, there is a syntax error. You have written: "++=" which does not make sense for Java.

Instead you should write this: lapsDriven += newParameterGoesHere; barCount -= newParameterGoesHere;

In that way you increase and decrease the lapsDriven and barCount variable with the newParameterGoesHere.
