Python Python Collections (2016, retired 2019) Slices Slice Functions

my outcome is not an integers

I rewrote this code in workspaces to play around with it, I wrote print(odd) at the end and the console printed out <function odds at 0x7f9f141e1268> am I doing something wrong?

slices.py
new=list(range(20))

def first_4(itr):
    return itr[:4]


def first_and_last_4(itrb):
    return itrb[:4] + itrb[-4:]


def odds(index):
    return index[1::2]


odds(new)

To test you should pass in a value to your odds function. For example:

print(odds("Gonzaga"))

returns ozg
