JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Create a max() Function

Need help on challenge.

I have tried everything, don't know why the code isn't working.

script.js
function max (a, b) {

    if (a>b) {
      return a;
    } else {
      return b;
    }
}

function max(a,b) {
   if (a > b)
   {
        return("first is greater");
    }
    else
    {
          return("second is greater");
    }

max(4,5);
  alert( Math.random( ) );

On you last line you didn't need to put max on top of the alert technically you have to put the max inside the alert like this:

  alert( max(4,5) );

And you didn't have to do this also :

function max(a,b) {
   if (a > b)
   {
        return("first is greater");
    }
    else
    {
          return("second is greater");
    }

It was just a extra so,delete that and you should pass this challenge.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

No problem.
