It seems that you forgot to put the "this" keyword in front of firstname in User.java. Change it to what I've shown below and let me know if it works!

public void setfirstName(String firstName){
      this.firstName = firstName;
}

Hey Jake, i have done that but this is the error message i get....

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: ParseException: com.github.javaparser.ParseException: Encountered " "public" "public "" at line 9, column 6. Was expecting one of: "assert" ... "boolean" ... "break" ... "byte" ... "char" ... "continue" ... "do" ... "double" ... "false" ... "float" ... "for" ... "if" ... "int" ... "long" ... "new" ... "null" ... "return" ... "short" ... "super" ... "switch" ... "synchronized" ... "this" ... "throw" ... "true" ... "try" ... "void" ... "while" ... <LONG_LITERAL> ... <INTEGER_LITERAL> ... <FLOATING_POINT_LITERAL> ... <CHARACTER_LITERAL> ...

Ok, so the code looks fine. Did you uncomment the code where it says "Uncomment this when prompted"? You must uncomment blocks of code in Main.java and Forum.java

i don't think i was never prompted to uncomment anything

this is the code that I'm using and it still not working

public class User { // TODO: add private fields for firstName and lastName private String firstName; private String lastName;

public User(String firstName, String lastName) { firstName = this.firstName; lastName = this.lastName; // TODO: set and add the private fields public void setfirstName(String firstName){ firstName = firstName; } public void setlastName(String lastName){ this.lastName = lastName; } // TODO: add getters for firstName and lastName
public String getFirstName(){ return firstName; } public String getlastName(){ return lastName; }

} }
