Treehouse TeacherNew Course: Build an Interactive Story App
Hey Android Treehousers!
This is a really fun app that I had a great time working on. A big special thanks goes to Mat Helme, who created the awesome illustrations and simple but cool app design. He does a ton of amazing work for all the teachers, so be sure to let him know if you appreciate his work! :) Tweet at him at @MatHelme.
In this course we will build a simple choose-your-own-adventure story app, complete with fantastic illustrations. We will model our story and introduce the Model-View-Controller pattern, and we will learn about getting input from users, displaying images, and using more than one Activity.

9,741 PointsBen, I really enjoyed this latest course, but I felt it was not as technically challenging as the last one - the self-destructing messaging app. I was hoping we would delve more into advanced topics of the Android framework, and learn really unique ways to create apps. I'm still hoping for an in-depth dive into animations. :) Thanks!

Thanks Ben!

20,664 PointsObvious question, but will an iOS version be made?

Ben Jakuben
Treehouse TeacherGood question, but no, we're mixing it up a little. Pasan Premaratne will be adding a course shortly that will cover some of the same things, so it should be pretty straightforward to then build it using the same illustrations and basic design as this project.

Treehouse TeacherGlad you enjoyed it! I'm in a strange place right now where I need to update everything for Android Studio. In doing so I'm trying things a little differently based on feedback about the existing material. I'll be adding more advanced content after I finish this refresh cycle, and in the mean time I'm working with guests (like Data Persistence) to help fill out the library.
Your request about animation is noted! I am planning on entire course on that in 2015.

9,741 PointsBen Jakuben, that's awesome! It is completely understood since Android Studio just came out of beta, so that's a major change to consider, and I'm sure the older content needs revisions. Really excited for the future of the Android track, and can't wait to hear more about what is being planned! Please don't misread me: I LOVE the content. It's improving considerably. You gals/guys are amazing.
Thank you for all your hard work and all of this awesome content!
P.S. Super excited for animations next year. :-)
