Not sure how to attached the custom directive to the module

No sure why this doesn't work after watching the video a couple of times.

You can add custom directives to module on the following way:

var myApp = angular.module('myApp',[]);

myApp.controller('GreetingController', ['$scope', function($scope) {
  $scope.greeting = 'Hola!';
}]);
