not sure how to count characters passed to a method using for each loop

I am not able to get my head around the issue.

ScrabblePlayer.java 
public class ScrabblePlayer {
  private String mHand;

  public ScrabblePlayer() {
    mHand = "";
  }

  public String getHand() {
   return mHand;
  }

  public int getTileCount(char tiles) {
    int count = 0;
    for (char test : tiles) {
      count = count + 1;
    }
    return count;
  }
  public void addTile(char tile) {
    // Adds the tile to the hand of the player
    mHand += tile;
  }

  public boolean hasTile(char tile) {
   return mHand.indexOf(tile) > -1;
  }
}

The method should return the quantity of the tile that is passed in, so the method heading should look like this:

public int getTileCount(char tile) // notice that my parameter has "tile" (singular).

Next you want to do a for each loop that will loop through and check to see if the tile matches the argument passed in, if it does then your count variable will be incremented like this:

int count = 0;

for(char letter : mHand.toCharArray()){
    if(letter == tile)
       count++;
}
return count;
