still... having problems with this, it says task 1 is still incorrect
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(display_menu)
display_menu = ', '.join(sundaes)

the error occurs because you are formatting menu with a variable that you declare later. display_menu needs to be defined first in order to use it. So what you can do is e.g.
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}."
display_menu = ', '.join(sundaes)
menu = menu.format(display_menu)
menu = menu.format(display_menu) is the same as menu = "Our available flavors are: {}."format(display_menu)
