Pen Tool Settings

Hi,

When I try to use the pen tool and start at a point and move rightward, it also creates a line leftward as well (equal in size). so basically where ever I start is the middle of my line and this is not how the instructor has it during his tutorial. Is this a setting or am I using the wrong tool?

Thanks

What is actually happening when you click and drag with the Pen tool is you are creating handles for the anchor point that is placed where you clicked. So if you click again, it will drop another point. The handles let you adjust the curve of the line and are not actually part of your line.
