Photoshop CS6 Mac no transparency with PNG-8 matte

To the best of my knowledge, I followed the video exactly and when selecting the logo/illustration and choosing PNG-8 with the matte background, it doesn't cut the excess background out. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Using PS CS6 on a Mac. Thanks in advance!

Try doing the "Save for Web" feature if you haven't, and make sure the check box for "Transparency" is checked.

Unfortunately, I did all of that and still no luck...I really wish I could take screenshots and add it to posts to show I'm not crazy
