What you want to do is echo it as a number value. If you put single quotation marks around it, all you're doing is echoing a string.

<?php
echo $colors[1];
?>

Try this:

<?php

echo $colors['1'];

It is also important to remember that arrays are 0 indexed, so the first value is in position 0.

thank you guys.
