Design Mobile App Design for iOS Designing our App Icon Design Dos and Donts

Please help me understand.. Icons and clients

Hi!!

I didn't understand if we should add the hours and hours of icon resizing to the clients budget or not.

We have to charge for the creation of the icon itself but not for the resizing?

Thanks!!

Well if you agreed with your client that any modifications will be charged this includes resizing well yes you'd charge them but if you didn't discuss this well they may not pay for it since it wasn't discussed previously

What she meant was don't include icon design in the price for designing the app itself. I would charge separately to design the app. The re-sizing should be included with that separate fee because it's part of the process. Designing an application is different than designing the icon.

For example, I have a client named James who hired me to design a website. He also needs a logo. I am charging him $1750 for the website design. I am not going to include the logo with that $1750 fee. The reason why is because those are two separate things. I would charge a separate fee for the logo design. Let's say $900. As part of the logo design process, the logo needs to be adaptable to different contexts. So I need to design a logo that looks good on any background. So as part of the $900 I am charging for the logo design, I need to make sure to include the logo with the brand's colors, a black version, and a white version.

This applies to app design and designing the icon. These are two different things so they would be separate fees. Charge one price for the app design. Charge a different price for the icon design which includes re-sizing the icon as part of the process.
