HI,
Last year, i installed XAMP on Windows 8 . Now , after a year, onthe same machine, i installed MAMP. It says the port is taken. I changed the ports , but it still doesnt wokr. WHat should i do?

28,148 PointsYou can uninstall one of these programs from your Control Panel in windows. I use XAMPP on my Windows 7 and 8 machine at work, and use MAMP on my personal Macbook Pro at home. Both function the same, giving me an htdocs folder to work out of.
It's common that skype interfers with these programs as it also listens on port 80. I changed XAMPP to listen to port 8080 and it works just fine now. That setting is in the httpd.conf file. There are some answers on Stack Overflow with how to do that.

2,435 PointsI dint know how to uninstall xamp nd i re installed mamp, nd it kinda works but I can't get the htdocs to desktop nd i hv to type localhost :8888 because on the starting.g page there isn't link to ' My websites '. On IMac everything was just excellent. How I hate windows: p

2,435 PointsI noticed thath skype is blocking the port as well, i had to close it : p ohh how i hate windows xdd cant wait to buy my own iMac. Since im sharing it with somebody else and now i have windows for 2 motnhs : p

2,435 PointsOh, right , xd On the iMac i use, i have htdocs out on the screen and wherever i put it it works. Even if i have skype or not, it works anyways : p i guess its kinda luxury compare to windows : p
Here on windows, i have to modify and make changes like you said. I just preffer MAMP , i kinda have bad past with XAMP : p ( music brings memory like XAMP to me : p).
