Pressing enter auto-creates way too many tabs

Workspace will sometimes create four or five tabs indentations on a new line, and I can't figure out why. I even make sure to dedent the preceding blank lines and yet it insists on inserting superfluous tabs. I'm not sure what I'm missing, so any help would be appreciated.
