Problem with android studio xml SP sizes

So now I was thinking about how sp works in android studio for text. Every website I check the explanation given is that sp is used when you want something to cover the same amount of space on all screens no matter resolution. What I was wondering was is there a unit for the size that goes bigger or smaller depending on the screen size of the phone.
