Project files are encrypted

Dave McFarland I tried downloading the project files for this course, and I had a heck of a time getting them to actually work on Windows. I kept getting a warning about the files being encrypted, and they wouldn't copy.

I finally figured out how to remove the encryption from the folder (right-click, Properties, Advanced, uncheck "Encrypt contents to secure data"), but that's the first time I've had an issue with project files being encrypted. Maybe they were accidentally encrypted before being uploaded.

I just hope it's the files themselves and not my computer doing weird things to the files.

Hi Adam Kelm. That's strange. I've never seen that before. I'll check on my Windows machine when I get into the office and see if I have the same problem. What version of Windows are you using, and what browser to download the project files.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Dave McFarland I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise. At first I was extracting the files to a server, so I tried extracting to the local drive too; same result. The zip file itself isn't encrypted, but when I go to the extracted folders, they're encrypted.

Like I said, it's not a big deal to undo the encryption, but if you try copying the files, boy howdy, you're in for a surprise when Windows tells you it will take 5 hours to move an 11 MB file.

I should also add I'm using Chrome.
