Question About Django/Postgres Heroku Deployment

Hi I noticed that Heroku does not have access to persistent disk storage and I’m confused as to what this actually means. If I had let’s say a shopping site with static images and information would Heroku erase all of this data every 24 Hours? If so are there better solutions aside from Heroku for my use case?
