Question about the expressions of event binding?

In Like button and comment button we have (click) events and we bind it isLiked and showComments respectively. My question is we never defined those expressions anywhere though, Is it created on the fly?

<button (click)="isLiked = !isLiked" [ngClass]="{liked: isLiked}">Like Photo</button>
<button (click)="showComments = ! showComments">Comments ({{comments.length}})</button>
