You certainly could make a partial for media queries and import that into your primary style sheet. It's likely a matter of preference. Some have said on twitter that a media query partial will scale better on a large application. I believe the author said you can see benefits in nesting them inline with their specific selector as it creates a 1 stop shop for all the things directly modifying the given element/selector.
