WordPress How to Make a Website with WordPress Customizing WordPress Themes Customizing WordPress Theme Files

Recommendation of theme for simple design portfolio site, or way to begin?

Hi, Wondered if anyone had a recommendation for a good simple theme to start out with for a graphic design portfolio. Basically will just have Home page (simple nav bar overlaying image with logo in middle) with some info in a few bands underneath---then about page or section, portfolio, and Contact. Was debating coding from scratch but as I want to learn Wordpress and figured site would be easier to update, thought I'd start out doing this as project for my first Wordpress site. (or should I look into learning Genesis, or buying multi-purpose theme like Theme X, Avada or Divi? Might be more than I need to start and probably learning curve.

I am very fond of "Portfolio" by Gavickpro. It's geared towards photographers and its as simple as can be. It's very lightweight and geared to work on a range of devices. It also has a lot of customization options in terms of setting the colors, font styles and the like.

I'm a big fan of the X theme. Tons of different options.

Thanks TJ...Think I may start with one of the simpler ones and then maybe get X theme next. Looks great!

You could simply begin by a simple free theme.

Lots of free theme are available for design portfolios.

And you can find plenty of them there: http://www.wpdailythemes.com/

And you are right there is a learning curve when using Avada, Divi or Genesis...

Looks like a good one and think something there may work out just fine for initial site. Just a little overwhelming. So many choices!

And thanks Nicholas! Couldn't find area to respond directly to your comment. Have been offline most of week. Will check that out as well.
