Relevance of the .design TLD

I've been looking through some of the available TLDs on NameCheap and I see a lot of very random ones that I've never heard of before, like .rocks and .me and stuff. I also see one that's .design and I think that sounds kind of neat, especially if you want to make a website that's based on design of some sort. But would that TLD be good to use? I have no idea how this works. I've always seen .com and .net, .gov from time to time, international TLDs, etc... but I've never seen .design. Would it come up in a google search just as easily as if it were .com? I don't know how relevant it is in comparison. I guess overall I'd like to know if some TLDs are better than others.

I'd check and see who owns it. Everyone's jumping on the TLD bandwagon nowdays, and it could be associated with some shady operations. As of August of 2015, the ten worst TLDs, ranked by percentage of malicious or suspicious sites on it were:

  1. .zip (100.00%)
  2. .review (100.00%)
  3. .country (99.97%)
  4. .kim (99.74%)
  5. .cricket (99.57%)
  6. .science (99.35%)
  7. .work (98.20%)
  8. .party (98.07%)
  9. .gq (97.68%)
  10. .link (96.98%)

Now .design is not among the top 10, but it might be worth researching their percentage before jumping on board.
