Remove just does nothing?

Hey there,

dave uses the .remove() method to get rid of the newly created email-text class. If I copy the exact same code,the remove method literally does nothing. I tried it with removeClass() but still he adds the email us link, everytime I scroll up and down again.

$(".work").on("sticky-start", function(){
    $(this).append('<a href="mailto:email@website.com" class="email-text">Email us</a>');
});
$(".work").on("sticky-end", function(){
    $(".email-text").remove();
});
