shrink-to-fit

What is the role of shrink-to-fit=no . When I searched about this , I found it is not necessary to include this tag. What does this tag actually do then and is it used specifically?

It’s suppose to stop the process to make your webpage shrink down to other screens not in a responsive way but just the way it was coded for desktop . Although, like you said it’s not really necessary to put.
