Slicing the background texture

The tileabl.es website which Allison refers to in this video is no longer available. So how do we slice the background texture? I didn't understand what was shown in this lesson.

So from rewatching this section a few times, here is what I was able to figure out:

Layer 24 in the .psd file has the original texture from the tileabl.es website (grayish texture image)

  • She first creates a new .psd file with a white background that is 500x500 px
  • She then places the Layer 24 grayish texture in this new file
  • She then goes to the website .psd file and uses the eyedropper tool to get the brown background color
  • She then uses the paint bucket tool to fill the white background layer in the new file with this brown color
  • She then sets the blending mode to hard light on the gray texture layer in the new file and the opacity to 20% and the fill to 100%

I was able to recreate it using these steps so I hope this helps!
