So when he typed export Message="Hi World" Was he?

Was he changing the value since Message did not have a $ at the beginning and exporting it at the same time? If so, How would you just export a value, without changing it. So lets say I have a variable named bird with a value that is directory that contains some birds. And I want to export it to the child processes. How would I type out that command exactly. WITHOUT changing anything OR expanding anything within that variable.

Just leave out the equals sign and the value:

export Message
