Familiarity with the console environment is important because many tools are console based in their entirety on a console environment. Its important to know your way around the console so that when you come across such a tool, your not going in blind.

Graphical User Interfaces are often complex and more difficult to create (I can personally attest to how nightmarish Windows APIs are). Many coders will build console based applications to keep them in their simplest of forms.

The console is dry, it is analytical, but it has syntax and a feeling similar to programming. Take frequent breaks, and chug on through!

I actually find these tutorials to be the most explicit ones on Treehouse until now. Having someone explaining some concepts like you're a true beginner is refreshing, after encountering some tracks with some huge leaps where I just lost track of info. They might seem too long sometimes but learning the (powerful) things you can do with just a few lines of code is very entertaining. Or maybe I like the console too much :D.

I don't go over many videos at a time - maximum 4 - and I take frequent breaks, so maybe it helps.

Haha same here buT I am trying :))
