split function, I am trying to split sundaes using this... sundaes = ';'.split(available)

Do you know what is wrong with the above?

banana.py
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = ';'.split(available)

variable comes first, then the period to call the function, and inside the function, the parameter, to mention, how are you breaking it down.

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(";")
