You just need to get rid of the parentheses after year since year is a variable not a function.

function getYear() {
  var year = new Date().getFullYear();
  return year;
};

It is asking to Create a function named getYear -- don't add any code inside the function yet. when I add function getYear() { var year = new Date().getFullYear(); return year(); }; it is keep telling me that It doesn't look like you created a function named getYear().
