Strickt mode forbids implicit creation of global property '$submit'

Where did I go wrong?

$submit = $('.submit-btn'); $submit.attr('disabled', true); //got ReferenceError: Strict mode forbids implicit creation of global property '$submit'

You forgot to declare your new variable:

let $submit = $('.submit-btn');  // declare with "let", "const", or "var"
$submit.attr('disabled', true);
