Struggling to get disemvowel.py challenge to pass.

What am I doing wrong?

disemvowel.py 
def disemvowel(word):
    word = word.lower()
    for letter in word:
        if letter == "a" or letter == "e" or letter == "i" or letter == "o" or letter == "u":   
            return word.remove(letter)
