Stuck on designing my logo in Illustrator!

Hey guys, I've followed the Logo sprint process, and I'm stuck on the illustrator part. My main problem is creating a curved shape for my G and D, here's the picture of what I'm doing:

Hi, This is only a suggestion.... and it might not be easy either! I would attempt an tilted oval/circle with stroke first, then increase stoke's pt size, and then create an outlined shape from this path. When this is right, I would cut the shape with aid of scissor or use another shape with pathfinder features to carve it out? Sorry if i haven't explain this well but hope you get the gist!

Thanks for the tip! This worked perfectly and was actually pretty simple. I have my logo designed now :)

One suggestion..you could perhaps try the pen tool or if you wanted to use arcs, you can create circle and then cut it into segments using the "scissors" tool. Afterwards either way, you will have a curve. use the "expand" tool to make it into a fill and join it to your other fills using "pathfinder union".
