CSS Framework Basics What's New in Foundation 5 Sublime Text Snippets

"Sublime Text Snippets"

I'm really annoyed and irritated with the lack of instructions and consideration for windows users. In Frameworks Basics episode "Sublime Text Snippets" there are no instruction how to install this very useful and very important snippet for Sublime windows users.

Is my $25 not worth the same as mac's $25 users???

Not all of us have the funds to upgrade to a Mac but if treehouse would like to buy me one then it would be most welcomed!

Ok... Uhm lets get to the question. When you go to https://github.com/zurb/foundation-5-sublime-snippets (used google to get there)

And scroll down a bit: Windows Instructions

cd "%AppData%\Sublime Text 3\Packages\User" git clone https://github.com/zurb/foundation-5-sublime-snippets.git

Each snippet is prefixed with zf- (ZURB Foundation). Each snippet is singular, unless the name of the component ends in an s (offcanvas) Available classes are included as comments in the snippets

So download the ZIp file. Extract it in C:\Users{USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 2\Packages\User

and done it is

Thank you Pattrick for the quick reply. Took me some time before I was able to get the free time to install it and now it's working a treat. It's a great time saver that I'm going to try out and have some fun with. :)

Raymond a small tip, before venting your frustration, trying search on Google for some tips. Software like Sublime Text is very well known throughout the Windows and Mac development community. Just because the instructors wanted to use a Mac to complete a task does not mean you can't complete it as well on a Windows-based system.

I'm sorry your experience was sullied by not having found the information you wanted in the manner/matter you had desired.

Hi Greg Thanks for your reply but I must say that if I pay for something I expect to be treated fairly like other students of the same product.

Also before I vented my frustration as you put it I did search the net but I was unable to find a clear installation process, even though I'm sure the answer to my question is out there someplace but I did not have the time to make a complete search as I had other commitments to take care of that day.

Lucky by venting my frustration I was able to resolve the issue with a positive reply from Patrick who was kind and considerate enough to give me a step by step guide, which helped me to complete the task in a matter of minutes later in the day. Now surly if a Treehouse student like Patrick can fill in the details then surly Treehouse with its team of experts can do the same.

I also expect Treehouse to do it because I pay them to do it. This is why I have chosen to pay for the tutorials and not go for the freebies on the WWW so that everything I would need would be in one place without having the need to search in other places even though I understand that Treehouse are not perfect but surly this is why they they have these discussions and forum rooms, so that these issues can be sorted out so as to make the learning experience good for all its users.

A company who listens to its customers and acts on it is one of the keys to success. It's easy for me to take my money to someplace else but if I do I probably will never come back to Treehouse and more than likely I will share my experiences with others.

The issue here is about being treated fairly and if Treehouse can give clear instructions to Mac users then they should also give clear instructions Window users too. Treehouse has a legal obligation to treat all of it members fairly. Not only is it fair but it is also good business practice.

PS. I have a question for you and that is... ...why didn't you give me the answer? Is it because you don't know because you are a Mac user too?

PPS. I'm sorry Greg even though I'm sure you meant well and to be helpful I find your tip is not valid and if your answer was the only one I got that day then I'm sure would have been a step closer to leaving Treehouse and taken my hard earned cash some other place.
