Suggestion on Django REST Framework version

I got to implement a REST API for a 1.5 Django project, my question is If it's better to upgrade Django's version to 1.10 or to install Django REST Framework 2.0, and If the second choice seems to be the more adequate, how can I install an specific version of DRF using pip?
