The New Code Playground Feature is Awesome

So I just discovered that instead of downloading the project files yourself there's a ready made code playground over on codepen for each stage of the web design projects.

I've noticed it on these courses:

  • Build a Basic Website
  • Build a Responsive Website
  • Build an Interactive Website
  • CSS Foundation 2nd Edition

I  codepen

Also, this will make troubleshooting issues on forum when people have are having issues following along with the video forum so much easier.

To be honest, I don't have much experience with codepen. From the little bit of playing around I've done, it seems really nifty! I think it's great that Treehouse is giving members an easy way to mess around with their projects, and I'm sure I'll be dabbling with codepen more in the future!

This is optional, right? I personally do not like CodePen.

Paul,

Yeah, it's all optional. If you don't mind my asking, what is it about codepen that you don't like?

Best,

I think it would be excellent if they had this for every video. It's not a huge hassle to download the project files but it would be super handy if there was a link to a pen for each video.

@Fred - I think they are doing this for all web design series that have project files. Some of the older deep dives have no project files and thus nothing to load into codepen.

I think it's a great idea, it's sort of add's a "quick check" alternative instead of downloading all the project files (not that they're bit or take long) but it's always nice to give people a different way.

@JT It's low speed, and design. I'm a huge fan of Sublime Text 2, and it's what I prefer.

Codepen is awesome, I think it is great to be able to see in real time what you're building.

@Paul Sublime Text 2 is just a code editor. Comparing it to Codepen is apples to oranges.

@John - Codepen is getting even more awesome with it's real time collaboration features as part of Codepen PRO
