The Wordpress Loop (home.php - Blog Listing Page)

I get how the loop works, but what I am curious about is how it links the home.php page to the page "Blog" created in wordpress? I don't recall doing anything to designate the page named "Blog" to be associated with that file. I mean the other pages I had created had not been affected.
