This really looks like I'm converting to a string stringGPA(){ this.gpa.toString(); }

Try using return to return the string.

Perhaps you could try this:

class Student {
    constructor(gpa){
        this.gpa = gpa;
    }
  stringGPA(){
    return this.gpa.toString();
  }
}
