TreeHouse Android Courses Suck

I have taken and completed Treehouse's Android Courses before within my initial free month sign up about 4 months ago. I did not continue my Android education with Treehouse because the classes only showed new developers limited information. Thus saying, if an Android app developer depends only on Treehouse, that developer's app will look and operate like a basic elementary style Android App.

I thought that since Treehouse has updated it's system that the courses would be better, more innovative, and show developers how to implement more features into their apps. However, I was sadly disappointed. I was impressed that Ben finally covered Android Studio basics but I do not understand why I should pay for a GOLD membership when I am still not educated on nearly 50% of the features that Android has to offer. I have learned more using Youtube videos, reading tutorials and asking questions on stackflow.com.

I would love to continue my education with Treehouse because some of the courses are very informative but the Android Courses will not prepare any aspiring developer for a serious career as a Native Android Developer. Its sad to say but I would rather spend My money with Lynda.com and learn it all.

This is only My personal opinion, however, Treehouse Courses may tickle the fancies of beginners but that tickle will only last for so long. Why doesn't Treehouse offer Android Advanced Courses?

I am not impressed with the new Treehouse's Android Courses. The Treehouse Android Course load is still in need of some serious improvement. I say this not to discourage Treehouse nor Ben Jakuben, I say this to inspire Treehouse to want to help Android developers do more.

The android course are still relatively new. I'm sure the more advanced courses are in the pipeline. Wordpress has only just got a new set of more advanced courses.

Hi Marcus ,

I'm sorry you are frustrated by our Android offerings. Your criticism is valid and is something we are well aware of and actively working on. I have holes to fill before Android is truly an all-encompassing job-ready offering, but we are constantly balancing the urgency of developing new content with growing responsibly. So while the bad news is that we don't cover many advanced topics yet, the good news is that more is on the way. :)

I know that doesn't help you right now, but hopefully you and/or other students get a good start here and either "graduate" to advanced stuff elsewhere or stick around or come back when we have more advanced topics here. In the mean time, we always welcome feedback like this, so continue to let us know what you are looking for or if you ever have any specific feedback about the courses.
