Treehouse Pro Account

Hi,

I've had treehouse for about 6 weeks now and absolutely love it. I really cant fault it at all.

I'm currently working through the iOS Dev course and have a few other tracks in mind.

I'm wondering if upgrading to pro is worth it? And would love to hear some of your thoughts on this.

My decision to not go pro wasn't financial, more that I found the pro tiers on some other sites to not really be worth it.

Cheers, Marc

If the money is not a problem, I don't see a reason for not upgrading to PRO. Also, I think that downloading videos is very convenient as well as the conference videos.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe a stupid question, but what are the conference videos and what do they offer?

Not a stupid question at all. Conferences are basically events that include presentations on a particular subject. At the end of the presentations, there's Q/A session. You can always learn something new by watching the conferences videos.

The conference videos are recordings from real world conferences like MozCon, Creative South or FOWD. In addition there are some treehouse talks with industry professionals or things like a few reviews on student website projects by treehouse teachers or recorded q&as with teachers. Also there are a few video courses and workshops that are only implemented in the pro account. At the moment I really enjoy the pro account and find it totally worth paying for it. But I also think it's not absolutely necessary to study in a decent way, but rather "nice to have". An exception would be, if you had to rely on downloading videos for offline viewing. Right now I'm working mostly from home on my courses, so I rarely use that option although it's great to have.

If you are interested in a pro account (and money is not the issue), I would suggest to simply try it out for a month or so, since you can always switch back to the standard account.

Of course the extra content is nice but it doesn't make sense for me unless I have a specific need to download videos. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade just for the extra videos solely based on price scaling vs value. Just think about how much you get for basic membership for 25$ versus things you're getting via paying the additional 25$.
